THE PACIFIC FUSION FASHION SHOW RETURNS FOR ITS FOURTH YEAR WITH AN AWESOME COLLECTION OF PACIFIC-INSPIRED HIGH FASHION GARMENTS CREATED BY 13 LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL MAORI AND PACIFIC FASHION DESIGNERS.
The theme this year is Fashion Factory. Manukau is the industrial and business hub of South Auckland and is the location we have chosen for this year’s event. For many Pacific people, our parents, uncles and aunties worked long hours on a factory floor. They came to fill the labour shortage desperately required in the 70’s and 80’s to help businesses and the New Zealand economy thrive and grow. They also laboured in love to provide for their children and families to have a better life.
So here we are – some 40 years since the great Pacific migration – and guess what? A new generation of Pacific skills and labour has arrived on the factory floor. We are the generation creating, designing, modelling and enterprising our way to success! Re-defining our path to prosperity on our terms!
Come along and see some of our talented local and international designers showcase their work in this evening of high fashion, expression and entertainment.
This years event will be held at the Sir Noel Conference Centre at the Vodafone Event Centre, an iconic landmark in South Auckland. There will be food and drink available to purchase throughout the night.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THIS YEAR'S SHOW
PACIFIC FUSION FASHION WEEKFor our fourth show, we’re going EXTRA! We will be running 5 mini-events in the lead up to PFFS 2019. These will include a Pop Up Shop on Friday where you can buy items from some of our fabulous designers, capability workshop for the designers and seminars to encourage women in our community.
POLY CATWALKThis year, we had almost 100 models attend an open casting call for our show! Like previous years we will have Pacific models of all sizes and levels of experience strut their stuff on the catwalk from novices through to experienced models.
OUR MCThe lovely K-Lee will lead us through the night. Coming off her recent appearance in Dancing With the Stars, her upbeat attitude and extensive knowledge of music and fashion will keep our energy high for the whole night.
POLYNATION DRESS CODE
It’s a Fashion Factory! Keep an eye out for health and safety hazards so come dressed so we can see you. This means high visibility – so bold with fluro is in and don’t forget factory means lots of chains, leather and boots. You’ve been warned.
